Vidisha’s paper entitled “Machine Learning Classification of Pre- and Post-Fatigue States in FES-Activated Quadriceps Using a Novel Wearable Ultrasound Sensor” examines her team’s research which aims to efficiently and accurately detect fatigue states in artificially activated muscles using a newly developed wearable ultrasound sensor (made at NCSU with Dr. Xiaoning Jiang’s lab in the MAE department) to be used as a feedback mechanism in future hybrid rehabilitation or assistive devices. “By providing fatigue feedback to the controllers of these devices, we can maximize their rehabilitative potential as the devices will provide assistance to the user only when needed and prioritize movement via stimulating the user’s muscles.”
