The 2024 Senior Award winners were announced on April 17th at the annual College of Engineering (COE) Awards Banquet at NC State. 

The Senior Awards honor outstanding graduating seniors for excellence in leadership, scholarly achievement, citizenship and service and humanities. Recipients showcase exceptional skills and impact within their fields, celebrating their contributions to the university and beyond.

This year, the following four students from the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) were honored with awards at either the department or college levels.

Avanti Panajkar- Richard Porter Award (for Benjamin Franklin Scholars)

The Richard Porter Award recognizes an outstanding upper-class scholar who has excelled in both academic and service pursuits throughout their time at NC State.

Becky Renfrow (BME nominee) – Outstanding Senior Award in Leadership

The Engineering Senior Award for Leadership is given in recognition of contributions of outstanding leadership on behalf of fellow students, the College of Engineering and the University.

Robert Kobrin (COE winner) – Outstanding Senior Award in Scholarly Achievement

The Engineering Senior Award for Scholarly Achievement is given in recognition of technical competence, academic achievement and demonstrated scholarly performance.

Alexa Jimenez Escribano (BME nominee) – Outstanding Senior Award in Citizenship & Service

The Engineering Senior Award for Leadership is given in recognition of contributions of outstanding leadership on behalf of fellow students, the College of Engineering and the University.
