The Georgia Tech Alumni Association has chosen BME’s Ashley Brown as a 2023 Forty Under Forty Honoree in the field of academia.

Ashley BrownThe Alumni Association’s “Forty Under Forty” is a competitive recognition program that honors outstanding young alumni who have achieved significant accomplishments in their careers and made notable contributions to their communities. The program recognizes up to forty individuals under the age of forty who are Georgia Tech alumni.

This year’s program was extremely competitive, which points to the significant impact that Ashley has made within her sector and on her colleagues, students and peers. The Alumni Association is proud to honor the exceptional accomplishments Ashley has made so early in her career.  

Ashley C. Brown is an associate professor of Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received a bachelor’s from Clemson University in Biosystems Engineering and a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in Bioengineering. Her research focuses on developing novel materials for a variety of biomedical applications, including augmentation of hemostasis, enhanced wound healing, evaluation and modulation of cellular mechanotransduction, and development of biosynthetic constructs for regenerative medicine. Due to her interest in translating biomaterials into clinical use, Brown founded SelSym Biotech, Inc., a start-up focused on the development of hemostatic and pro-healing therapeutics.
