Three UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering undergraduate students received awards to participate in summer 2022 research experiences at prestigious international laboratories. The Joint BME students are Chloe Hincher; Manasi Krishna Kumar; and Robert Kobrin. The summer research internships were funded by Joint BME faculty emeriti Drs. Frances and George Ligler, and the NC State College of Engineering. Chloe Hincher’s Summer 2022 internship is with Dr. Jiri Homola at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics in The Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic. Manasi Krishna Kumar’s and Robert Kobrin’s Summer 2022 internships are both with Dr. Arben Merkoci at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), Barcelona, Spain.
