BME Assistant Professors Ashley Brown and Donald “Danny” Freytes were selected to the 2020-2021 inaugural class of Goodnight Early Career Innovators.  The award was very recently established to support early career faculty excellence and advancement in STEM or STEM education.  The program is part of North Carolina State University’s strategic efforts to invest in and retain top faculty.  About the new program Chancellor Randy Woodson noted “The Goodnights’ investment in our faculty helps us recruit and retain innovative minds, and ensures they have the resources they need to address our world’s grand challenges.”  The 24 faculty selected will receive $22,000 for each of the next three years to support their scholarship and research endeavors.  Faculty recipients were nominated by their colleges and selected by a committee of senior leaders in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Provost and the Office for Research and Innovation.  More information about the program and all of the 2021 recipients can be found here.  The Joint Department congratulates BME’s two Goodnight Early Career Innovators!
