One of the BME Department’s Lucas Scholars, Taylor Comte, has received a $3,000 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship from UNC for the summer of 2014, as well as a $4,000 award from the NC Space Grant program to continue her research in the lab during the academic year. The SURF program at UNC awards approximately 60 awards to Undergraduates per year. Taylor works in Dr. Ted Bateman’s lab and is mentored by Dr. Anthony Lau. Her project involves image processing and computational finite element modeling of bone strength and includes studies in mice undergoing hind limb unloading as well as structural analysis of human ribs. Congratulations to Taylor on both her awards!
