I’m Stella Prophater, a junior from Mercer Island, Washington, majoring in Biomedical Engineering at UNC Chapel Hill. On campus, I am the VP of Communications for the Society of Women Engineers, a board member on the BME Well-Being Committee, the VP of Facility Operations for Zeta Tau Alpha and have served as Treasurer for Epsilon Tau Pi and volunteered at UNC’s Get Real with Heel. Last summer, I worked as a research intern at the University of Washington’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in the Najafian Lab, where I contributed to a project focused on enhancing electron microscopy segmentation through deep learning for visualizing kidney ultrastructures.
