Bio

My name is Hannah Myatt, and I am a current Junior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in biomedical engineering and minoring in English literature. I am concentrating in pharmacoengineering. Through pharmacoengineering, I hope to design systems of drug delivery and work with other scientists to create and improve pharmaceuticals. While I am still exploring what is the most interesting application of pharmacoengineering, I currently work in a glycobiochemistry lab focusing on the discovery and application of synthetic oligosaccharides. I have been able to help create synthetic oligosaccharides, create and run purity testing standards for low molecular weight heparin, and am currently helping run an animal study for a new pharmaceutical.

While I was not originally interested in BME, I love it because it is a challenging major based on multiple disciplines. I also enjoy that we learn practical skills for engineering and current research in the scientific community. Other than BME, I work in a lab at UNC, volunteer with the special needs community, and participate in Intervarsity. I enjoy cooking, baking, reading and long walks.

Feel free to reach out with any questions about BME, research as an undergraduate, Christian organizations on campus, or any other UNC questions. I’d love to get to know you!
