Bio
Hello! My name is Alaina Parker, and I am a Junior at UNC. I am originally from Cary, NC. I am currently concentrating in Pharmacoengineering and Regenerative Medicine within the BME major. I am interested in developing environmentally sustainable drugs that are accessible and affordable for everyone. On campus, I am involved in undergraduate research in the Nguyen Lab. My research focuses on investigating the efficacy of bioengineered probiotics in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases in mice. I am actively involved in STEM Sisters, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Chancellor’s Science Scholars, Honors Carolina, Level the Playing Field, I Can Persist STEM Initiative, and the Light on the Hill Scholars.
