Bio
Dr. Petrella seeks to drive medical device innovation through the synthesis and realization of novel product concepts. In the classroom, he seeks to instill his passion for making and building. As such, he focuses on developing students’ technical and prototyping skills to prepare them for careers in biomedical engineering. This includes computer-aided drafting, embedded systems programming, 3D printing, printed circuit board design, finite element analysis and cell culture. Students learn these skills within the context of the medical device regulatory environment (quality management systems, design for standards, risk assessment and V&V).
