Local company Cortical Metrics, a spin-out from UNC/NC State BME faculty, was featured in a recent article on NC Business News Wire. The story’s focus was Cortical Metrics’ signature product Brain Gauge, a biomedical device capable of rapidly diagnosing a concussion with better than 90 percent accuracy, and it’s ability to meet urgent head trauma diagnostic needs in sports and the military. The Brain Gauge’s underlying technology was developed in BME Associate Professor Mark Tommerdahl’s laboratory; and two of his former students now Cortical Metrics personnel, Eric Francisco and Jameson Holden, demonstrated the Brain Gauge in action.
