Gut cancers are some of the least understood in the oncology world, something Dr. Scott Magness hopes to change in the near future. He and a dedicated research team have received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop novel approaches to studying and understanding these types of cancers. The ultimate goal of the project is to understand what causes gut tumors so the research team can develop models for testing new methods of diagnosis and treatment. The study has been featured on the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS) news site.
Way to go, Scott!
