Dr. Zhen Gu has received the 2017 Young Investigator Award from the International Controlled Release Society (CRS) as a result of his outstanding work with controlled drug delivery and bio-inspired materials. This award is presented to a CRS member who “has made outstanding contributions in the science of controlled release, and is 40 years of age or younger in the year the award is presented.” Zhen’s contributions to the field are innumerable and have been discussed in both scientific and popular media as “innovative breakthroughs.” We have no doubt that he will continue to be at the forefront of his specialty for many years to come.
