The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is known for its public outreach events that make it possible for scientists to speak with the public about various scientific topics. The Science Cafe series is one such example, and recently our own Drs. Ashley Brown and Ke Cheng were the stars of the show.

On behalf of the Comparitive Medicine Institute, an NC State-based collaborative focused on bridging the gap between basic research and clinical applications, Ke and Ashley took the stage and spoke to more than sixty people about their work in regenerative medicine. Specifically, they spoke about the pioneering technologies they are developing to aid in the restoration of cardiac function following a heart-related event (heart attack, hemorrhaging, and the like). Participants at the event were excited about the innovative research, which was evident from the many follow-up questions for the team. Congratulations on a successful event, Ashley and Ke, and way to go for getting others excited about biomedical engineering!
