BME Faculty Jason Franz has been awarded a grant from UNC’s University Research Council (URC) for his project titled “The role of propulsive capacity reserves in age-related mobility impairment.” The goal of the two year project is to gain mechanistic insight into the instinctive reduction in forward propulsion during walking due to aging and age-related mobility impairment, including the multi-scale neuromuscular consequences of rehabilitative efforts to restore it. In addition, the project will facilitate an exciting new collaboration between BME and Drs. Pietrosimone and Ryan in the UNC Dept. of Exercise and Sports Science. BME congratulates Dr. Franz for this accomplishment!
