Scott Vu, a recent BME Ph.D. graduate, has been featured in NC State News for his outstanding work with protein synthesis. During his time at NC State, Scott created a computer-based biophysical model that allows proteins to be created, or synthesized, by bacteria that would not produce those proteins under normal circumstances. In so doing, Scott hoped to create an accessible and simple approach to protein synthesis for a myriad of industries and applications. He has now taken his model (and Ph.D. dissertation) and turned it into a commercially viable product by incorporating his own company, RiboWiz. This truly innovative work has been well received and BME would like to congratulate Dr. Vu on the incredible accomplishment. You can read the full story here.
