Dr. Zhen Gu has been selected as a 2015 CMBE Young Innovator by the Biomedical Engineering Society. The Young Innovators are selected from active members of BMES who submit self-nominations. The competition is open to all tenure-track assistant professors who are working in Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering. Dr. Gu’s selection is based on his group’s novel hyaluronic acid-based microparticles that selectively release insulin in hyperglycemic environments. The winners were featured on the September 2015 cover of CMBE (table of contents), as well as in a BMES blog entry. Dr. Gu is pictured here, receiving his award from Michael R. King, Daljit S. and Elaine Sarkaria Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. Congratulations to Dr. Gu!
